I finally got a Gold sub, so here are the actual game images that I've been butchering with my terrible, off-screen camera phone shenanigans. Please, be brutal yet obtuse in your critiques.

Loving it! You should join the newly created Jalopnik/Oppo car club for those of us that didn't manage to join the original one!

We're not a club, we're a gang.

Ought I to? What if I don't have the chops? What if I can't tough it?

Oh, right, I forgot.
Unless I forgot to share it, we should actually have a '57 Bel Air in the Cl-... I mean Gang Garage too which is pretty bitchin'.

Trust me, you're probably better than me at Fourza.

By the way next time you get on make sure to checkout forzamotorsport.net and follow the rewards tab. Turn Ten is giving away unicorn cars and credits depending on your progress on forza 2, 3, 4 and horison.

Well, my GT is keithb1ack if that's any way to invite myself into your gang.

Oh I do that already! I've got the Mine's R34 and M3 GTR in FM4 as well as the Ferrari Dino and CRX in Horizon. The problem is that the GTR (which I got this morning) is black and unpaintable...

I won't be online until tomorrow I'm afraid, but I think the others can invite you (in fact I'm not even sure I can invite people since I didn't create the club).

Ran into the same problem with my M3 GTR this morning, it says the stock color is grey but the car is stuck black.

According to the forums it's a bug that they thought they had fixed during the Rewards Beta. Hopefully it will be fixed tomorrow.

I hope so. Untill then I'll have to settle for my normal e46 m3 :/

You make my Forza shots look like arse, even with your butchered cell phone pics. Well done dude

The last two are my favorite.
But, you really need to up the exposure. Some shots look nice dark, but some just look like the brightness was too low. I somehow also feel that your sepia was a bit high/color a bit low.
Fujimi/high contrast+high exposure seems to be the trick for me, especially on the bridge. Creates great reflections, and looks amazing overall. Lighting's imho the most important.
Next, try going crazy. Don't stick with just car shots, find vents, use aperture, and make crazy abstract shots. Anything is possible with Forza.
Go on the F..M...net/forums's Media Center to find galleries/people who can help you.

Let's just make this a Forza thread in general...

Thanks. And I appreciate your candor.
If I'm honest, though, I can't bring myself to increase the exposure no matter what track I'm at on FM4. The HDR in that game is so beyond redemption that it absolutely blows out whites and washes everything else out.
As a personal rule of thumb, I set aperture to the max, auto-focus to the car then adjust the it down from there so it doesn't look goofy. I decrease the exposure between 5-10 depending on where the light is and generally don't touch the contrast unless I'm on the 'Ring. You're right that I turned the brightness down on most of these shots, again that's thanks to T10's wonderful HDR. And sepia/vignette are the dirty sliders of the proletariat.
And yeah, I should get more exploratory with my compositions, but these are from my back-catalogue, taken way before I got my Gold sub.

Are you sure it's not your settings calibration? My TV screws with me on the coloring, and oversaturates everything. How to get around that?
-Clear Storefront of most photos
-As you take a photo, upload it to SF immediately
-See it on computer, adjust settings accordingly
-Tinker until you think it's right.

I don't think it's my TV. I mean, I didn't edit these pictures outside of the game at all. I'm sure this is all just a matter of personal preference.
And the terrible lighting in FM4.

I didn't mean it as in editting it on computer, I meant staying in the photomode and tinkering with the ingame settings to get to that sweet spot.
Personally I quite like the FM4 lighting system, hate the Horizon one, but neither is realistic. I've gotten used to it...but without contrast...damn, no good-looking light reflections.
